As the game goes on, it becomes clear that this is a time of consolidation, with smaller kingdoms falling to proto-nations. For my demo, I ran Meath, a central kingdom in Ireland, surrounded by rivals, riven by internal rebellions. You can play as any of these leaders, including the Vikings.
